Volunteers from the Telford Fire Company blessed us with a visit last week. The students especially enjoyed the "tour" of the fire engine. We are very grateful for your service to our community!
Our teachers are excited to be incorporating weekly STEM activities into their curriculum in all grade levels. They had their turn being the students during today's inservice. Each group was tasked with a different STEM project to complete. Success (and a lot of fun) was achieved all around!
The Community Fair is in full swing! Come out and experience all the exciting events that are scheduled for the rest of the week. Chili Cook-Off this evening, Car Show tomorrow and lots of free activities on Saturday from 2 -5 pm during Family Day! Be on the look out for Oliver the Owl and head on over to our tent for a delicious fruit smoothy and to participate in the coloring contest. Chick-fil-A gift cards for the winners!
So much FUN!! Praise the Lord for good weather, friendly competition and smiles all around. Thank you, Mrs. Saunders, for all your hard work planning this day and to all the parents and grandparents that came out to help and cheer!!
After spending time with us today, one parent shared with us her reflection from the day, "I want to let you know how happy Josh and I are with GCS and how much we love the community of children and teachers there. Parents told me it was a special place at the beginning of the school year and every time I’m there I see more and more why. There are so many things we love; the message of God’s love and reminders of living the way we’re taught in the Bible, praying for one another every day, the kids being all together mixed grades, and what I noticed today, respect and kindness from the older students, especially, is a testament of how GCS has helped shape their character. Knowing the kind of environment AJ is in when he is away from home brings me peace."
A wonderful time was had by all as we welcomed grandparents (and a number of 'grandfriends') to school this morning. Chapel time was lead by the 5th and 6th grade class. The students then escorted their guests to the gym where they had a great time with games and special activities. The grandparents of the 6th grade class were treated to a delicious lunch with their grandchildren in the Coffee House.
